Grand Central bar was commissioned by the Breakfast Group and situated on a site of a former bank in Shoreditch, East London. The bar uses light, movement and electricity as physical building elements to create an environment based on city flux. To visualise this, influence was drawn from long exposure photography of traffic flow. Through these studies, ‘lightstream’ walls were constructed to create the impression of car head and tail lights. A lighting rig runs through the space reminiscent of a tube map or circuit diagram.
