‘Building the BBC’

Building the BBC was an exhibition vehicle that ran at the RIBA in 2005. The brief was to communicate recent high profile architectural projects commissioned by the BBC.

The main aims of the exhibition were to be able to develop a proposal, which would transcend the overtly architectural language of its content to create an exhibition, which would be accessible and relevant to all visitors.

Influence was drawn from the ubiquitous test-card to generate a three-dimensional environment, which used colour gradations and tonal ranges as its visual code.

To augment this we also proposed generic living-room armchairs re-upholstered in ‘blue-screen’ fabric as the interface for the large collection of video content. The exhibition was also awarded a commendation at PAMADA 2003.
